Introduction to the Lakeside Palette Club
The Lakeside Palette Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting artists and their work in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. We are part of the St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Department. Our club holds meetings the first Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the SCS Public Library Gilstorf Room at 22500 11 Mile Road (& Jefferson).
We sponsor two Art shows each year for members. One in the Fall, and one in the Spring. At the monthly meetings we discuss club business and provide either a demonstration by artist in any of the different medias - pen and ink, oil or acrylic paintings, watercolors, etc..., and twice a year we have a judge come visit to critique member paintings. There also is time at the meetings for refreshments and to socialize and find out information on what is happening in the various nearby communities, and on opportunities of where and when to display members art. The club also partners with different venues in SCS and the the nearby communities to display our art to the public - restaurants, city buildings, etc...
During the summer, the club also hosts paint outs at nearby parks, and private homes. On Tuesdays, there is Studio Painting at the SCS Adult Ed Center in Room 111 from 10AM to 3PM where our artists gather to paint, share tips, and socialize.
The Lakeside Palette Club was founded in 1947 and has been continuously active since.
