HISTORY OF THE LAKESIDE PALETTE CLUB
The Lakeside Palette Club of St. Clair Shores was established February 3, 1947 by Mrs. Russell Srigley and a group of ten artists. This group met at Blossom Health Inn on Lake Saint Clair.
Today this club has over one hundred members and now meets in the East Room at the Blossom Heath Beach House located at 24800 Jefferson. Our objective remains the same after more than sixty years. "To study and paint together and to stimulate and promote interest in creative art."
Annual Membership dues are Twenty Five Dollars for a single person, and $30 for husband and wife. Student Membership - $15. The fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31.
Your dues allow you to participate in up to six demos, two critiques, weekly group open painting sessions, and allow you
the opportunity to display and sell your work at local business' in the metro area.
Demonstrations and critiques take place at our monthly meetings which are now held at the Blossom Heath Beach House on the first Monday of each month September through May.
Meetings begin at 6:30 pm with a demo or critique following at 7:00 pm. The two
critiques are usually in November and March. A schooled artist is hired to provide feedback on how you
might enhance the piece you bring in for review. This gives you time to make any changes prior to entering them in the Fall or Spring Show.
Demonstrations are done in acrylics, oils, pastels, sculpture and watercolor. Past demonstrators were: Robert Maniscalco, Amy Foster, Jerry Power, Bernadette Zachara-Marcos, Pete Snodgrass, Lewis King...to name a few. We also meet throughout the
summer for plein air painting at different locations in the metro area.
Weekly Open Painting/Art Sessions are held every Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00am - 2:00pm in the East Room at the Blossom Heath Park Beach House at 24800 Jefferson, SCS MI. A couple times a year, we have models that sit and pose for us. We supply the coffee or tea, you bring your art supplies and a bag lunch if you'd like; stay for an hour or two or if you are in the groove stay for the entire four hours.
